After months of hard work and an overwhelming response from our donors all around the world, the Essential School supplies programme for 2021 has now concluded!

The annual ESSP progrmames aim to ease the burden of rural families, who do not have the financial means to purchase the yearly school necessities that will help their children make the most of their education. For many of these families trapped in poverty, a good education provides a very sturdy foundation upon which to build their hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. To make these dreams a reality they can need more than hard work sometimes, that is where we step in, to make sure they have books to write their notes on, pens to write them down with, a reusable bottle to take clean water to school with them, shoes so that they don’t have to walk barefoot to class, a box of mathematical equipment for the older students to help them achieve their dreams of becoming scientists or mathematicians… the list goes on. A project that has been in operation since 1999, we are happy to have provided another group of students with not just the necessary utensils but also hope and motivation to stay in school for the coming academic year in 2021.

The past month saw our team travel the length and breadth of the country, to personally deliver the school supply packs to rural children. Despite countless logistical obstacles and stringent health regulations, the Foundation of Goodness has empowered 4,361 rural school children across Sri Lanka through the campaign this year and we are thankful to all the donors who made such an impact, helping kids facing so many hardships to smile.

The bags have been distributed to all students except in 2 locations (please refer to the scoreboard below) which await the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions to safely distribute the bags to the kids.
