A Creative Space from the OX Adventure Team The OX Adventure Team from Kuwait brought colour and brightness to the Anula Wijerama Girls Home in Balapitiya. What was earlier a drab and dark interior was transformed with imaginative murals and colorful strokes to delight the young girls residing there.
This is the 8th time that the OX Adventure team has visited the Foundation of Goodness. The team from Kuwait joins us once or twice a year with a group of youthful volunteers ready to dedicate their time and energy to community service.
OX Adventure is a community organization based in Dubai, with a dream to enlighten members of their society by showing them the world from an entirely new perspective. They create experiences with the aim of inspiring people to make positive changes in their lives, encouraging people to be themselves and embrace others differences, find their passion, chase their dreams, broaden their horizons and open up their minds.
During the recent visit, the volunteers painted a room and surrounding environment at the Anula Wijerama Girls Home with child-friendly colours that will energize the imagination. The space was re-introduced to the girls as a ‘Creative Space’ where they could let their imagination thrive, engaging in art, dance and theatre.
In order for the Anula girls to discover their own creative voices the group donated arts & crafts supplies to be installed at the creative space.
Samaa Alrefai from the OX Adventure team speaking of her experience in Sri Lanka said, ‘Sri Lanka was one of the truest forms of beauty I have ever encountered in my life. Visiting the rural areas of Sri Lanka and meeting the welcoming locals showed me that regardless of our different backgrounds, what we all had in common was the embracing emotion of humanity and love. This experience taught me how to be in harmony with nature, believe in my inner strength and completely widen my horizon.’ 
The OX Adventure Team, spent time with the girls playing games, reading to them and interacting all afternoon. It was a beautiful day, full of joy and laughter and a great break from the structure of everyday life for everyone involved.
Volunteering at the Foundation of Goodness will give you the opportunity to bring much needed skills and input into areas as diverse as sport, health, education, children’s well-being and more, directly benefiting people in the area who are disadvantaged by poverty and lack of opportunities.
