A grand month for the preschool

The 15th of October was an extremely happy and exciting day for Foundation of Goodness and its youngest beneficiaries when, with the support of the Rotary Club of Colombo West we opened the preschool’s very first computer room.

Happy young faces lined the entrance to the premises as eager little ones clutching bouquets of flowers awaited the arrival of the chief guests Jerome Rajendran, Yukthi Gunasekera and Sunil Wijesinghe who would declare the new computer room open.

Founder Chief Trustee of FoG Mr. Kushil Gunasekera spoke with great pride, stating “It is vital that we secure the future of these young children and we give great attention to IT and English education. While Microsoft was kind enough to donate child learning software to us, to date, we have not had the facilities to give children access to this material. It was Sunil Wijesinghe’s friend Ranjan De Costa who donated to FoG some of our very first computers, and now we have managed to give even our youngest kids the chance to use computers. It is our duties to give these kids as many opportunities as we can allow the village youth to surge forward. Close to 400 kids from over 10 villages have passed through the preschool and it is thanks to generous donors like Rotary Club that we have the opportunity to transform so many lives.”

Preschool English teacher Anukshi Guruge delivered a thank you speech in which she stated, “We thank you for giving us computers to deliver the essential service of IT knowledge to even the smallest children in this village”

Jerome Rajendran also took the opportunity to thank the Rotary Club of Sunnyvale California who joined with the Rotary Club of Colombo West in raising funds for this project in memory of Rotarian Roland Wanigatunga.

The preschool also celebrated its English day on the 26th of October where they sang and danced for their enthusiastic audience and had a great day. It is wonderful to see the kids thriving as they embrace English and IT education as we wish them all a very bright future with a wonderful set of skills under their wing.

They are practicing tirelessly for their upcoming annual concert which will be held in December this year.
