Unity Mission Trust Empowerment Programme held at the Foundation of Goodness

The Unity Mission Trust is a non-profit that aims to foster and facilitate unity, integration, healing and reconciliation between teenagers and young adults across Sri Lanka through leadership training, personal capacity enhancements and building bridges of friendship to help them rise above ethnic, religious and other social divides.

In order to attain this goal, UMT organizes training and development camps for island-wide youth and the Foundation of Goodness had the opportunity to host their camp which took place in September 2016 at the FoG MCC Centre of Excellence premises in Seenigama.

The 3 day camp was a "special leadership and capacity enhancement program", at which the UMT National Leaders belonging to the 12 different regions were brought together to be strengthened as one core-unit.

The programme also included special sessions with FoG Founder/ Chief Trustee Mr. Kushil Gunasekera who spoke on the importance of life values and Head of Project Management, Ms. Fazana Ibrahim who conducted a seminar on volunteerism, life skills and poverty in rural villages, a team building workshop conducted by the FoG Community Psycho-social Unit to encourage cohesion and interaction and sports activities with the FoG Sports Academy Team.

The group also took the time to tour the MCC Centre of Excellence and Sports Academy to learn more about the work carried out by FoG.

We are delighted to have had the opportunity to be a part of the UMT leadership programme and contribute towards their mission to create unity and reconciliation in our nation.
