The Essential School Supplies Programme is a project close to our hearts, many of us being able to relate to the excitement of receiving new stationery at the start of a new school year. This year, many rural Sri Lankans have seen their living standards worsen due to economic hardship caused by COVID-19. With all their income going towards daily necessities, new school supplies will be simply unaffordable to many. This will lead to many children simply dropping out of school, affecting their education, which is imperative to break out of the cycle of poverty many live in.

For the 21st consecutive year, we are once again hoping to enable thousands of rural children to be fully equipped to begin the new school year! This programme, being one of our longest running programmes, has enabled 38,856 rural disadvantaged children go to school since its inception! Last year alone, 5262 rural children island-wide received these packs.

This year we have especially curated a pack of items at a lower cost, not only in consideration of our donors who may face greater financial limitations after COVID-19 related shutdowns, but also in order to give more packs to a larger number of rural students! Each pack which will contain many essential stationery items and vouchers to purchase school shoes and uniforms, will be priced at USD 20 which is approximately LKR 3800.

The difficulties that each of us has faced during this period is only magnified tenfold for daily wage earners and a helping hand now will make a great impact on those in desperate circumstances. The campaign will close on the 15th of November 2020, in order to ensure island-wide distributions by the 24th of December 2020, which is usually the last day of school for the year. FoG personally transports and delivers these school packs to the most deserving beneficiaries, along with regular feedback to all our donors as the campaign progresses as per our usual high standards.

Therefore, please be kind enough to make your donations before the 15th of November 2020 via our website: https://goodnessdonations.org/
