Every once in a while the Foundation of Goodness comes across remarkable people whose generosity changes the lives of thousands. Two such individuals are Mr & Mrs Sidath & Sharmini Wettimuny, who contributed towards several water and sanitation projects, facilitated by the Foundation of Goodness, in aid of rural communities.

This includes:

2 tube wells in the Jaffna District, bringing clean water for over 2500 rural Sri Lankans from 750 families! They no longer have to travel long distances to obtain water for everyday needs.

5 brand new toilets and 3 toilet renovations in the rural Thirukkovil area of the Ampara District. This ensures that 35 rural villagers from 8 families, now have access to basic sanitation facilities.

52 rural families in the Ampara District have been provided with pipe-borne water connections to their homes. These families will now have easy access to clean water, relieving a huge burden of fetching water for their everyday needs.

These projects will make a lasting impact on these families and communities, with a marked improvement in their standard of living where before, they struggled to access these most basic necessities which are taken for granted by most. The generosity and compassion with which Sidath and Sharmini reached out to touch the lives of families in these overlooked and underserved communities is only one more example of their humanitarian efforts conducted with FoG over the years.

The Foundation of Goodness has, over the past 20+ years, empowered more than 426,000 rural individuals by way of empowerment programmes and rural development initiatives, which originated in Seenigama and has now spread to encompass over 500 villages across the country, via 11 Empowerment Centres thanks to the constant support of kind-hearted donors and supporters, and we look forward to reaching out to even more communities in need in the coming months and years.
