The Foundation of Goodness is a holistic rural development model that seeks to bridge the urban-rural divide in Sri Lanka via 10 empowerment divisions across 900+ villages island-wide, and reached over 307,000+ beneficiaries in 2022 alone by way of 15 Empowerment Centres, free of cost.

With the easing of health regulations, the Foundation of Goodness’ empowerment Centres located in 10 districts island wide in Sri Lanka reopened its doors for physical empowerment lessons for rural beneficiaries. This includes educational, vocational and sports training courses provided free of charge in order to help bridge the gap between urban and rural Sri Lanka. 

Our Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres across the island have begun providing educational lessons to over 6,900 rural children, youth and women, including STEM activities, the goodness agriculture initiative, the children’s good values initiative and planetary health education. 

The OYOB Centre of Excellence Seenigama warmly welcomed 150 new ladies from rural Sri Lanka to the Women’s Empowerment Centre at the OYOB Centre of Excellence in Seenigama.  These ladies will receive free skills training in courses such as dressmaking, food processing, bakery, curtain making and more. The OYOB Centre of Excellence has empowered over 5961 rural Sri Lankan women to better their lives since inception. 

The Centre also welcomed 85 new students at the OYOB Centre of Excellence Business Centres which provide free courses in Business Skills, Language Training Centre and Computer Training.  Since inception, these Centres have empowered over 8000 rural Sri Lankans in business and IT skills.

The Foundation of Goodness was able to empower over 68,000 rural disadvantaged Sri Lankans from 900+ villages in the year 2021 through our 10 empowerment divisions; Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres, Women’s Empowerment, Enterprise and Business Skills Development, Language and Arts, Special Needs, Sports Development, Medical, Dental & Psychosocial support, Children and Youth, Environment and Water and rural welfare and development.
