The past 5 weeks of the Feed the Hungry Essential Grocery Pack campaign has been extraordinary and the Phase 3 has been the biggest distribution of essential grocery packs for the Foundation of Goodness. This project commenced under the backdrop of an overwhelming number of appeals reaching us from all over Sri Lanka as the economic hardships brought about by COVID-19 made it difficult for many rural Sri Lankans to put food on the table.

Through the remarkable generosity of members of the FoG Family, we managed to reach our target of 5000 essential grocery packs during this phase of the Feed the Hungry Campaign!

The first week saw the distribution of 400 essential grocery packs in the rural villages of the Anuradhapura, Kandy and Badulla Districts. These essential grocery packs will greatly alleviate the suffering of over 1446 beneficiaries from 400 rural families.

All distributions took place in adherence to health and safety guidelines with some of the distributions being subject to delays due to prevailing quarantine regulations imposed across Sri Lanka.

Week 2 saw the distribution of over 2500 essential grocery packs, benefitting over 10,000 rural villagers in urgent need of food.
The essential and timely nature of this project has allowed the distributions to occur with special permission from the relevant authorities even under quarantine curfew.
Over 1000 essential grocery packs were distributed during week 3 alone, benefitting thousands of rural Sri Lankans in need.
Our Centre coordinators and staff  went above and beyond expectations to seek those most desperately in need and provide this grocery pack, which will last each family for nearly a month.
The Foundation of Goodness had a busy week 4, with over 700 essential grocery packs distributed to some of the most desperate communities in over 20 districts across the island.
The heartfelt appreciation and gratitude of these rural villagers was truly indescribable, with the grocery packs bringing timely relief to many who are struggling due to COVID-19 and other hardships.
Over 21,000 rural Sri Lankans in desperate need of assistance have received these groceries that will help support them for nearly a month.
The Foundation of Goodness aims to reach 10,000 beneficiaries in total in phase 1, 2 and 3 of the essential grocery pack distributions. We are nearly there, with 470 grocery packs required to reach our goal this year.
Thank you for your valuable support in helping us alleviate the many difficulties faced by rural Sri Lankans during this difficult time.
