Hospitals in Sri Lanka are running out of medicines and essential supplies as the country’s economic crisis worsens. Patients’ lives are in critical danger due to the lack of essential and urgent medicine for crucial operations and procedures such as dialysis, heart surgery and more.

The Foundation of Goodness seeks to help selected hospitals acquire these essentials in order to save the lives of Sri Lankans in need. Currently these include the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Balapitiya Base Hospital, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, Apeksha Cancer Hospital and the Castle Street Hospital for Women.

We have compiled a comprehensive list of urgently needed, available and purchased medical items from selected hospitals, which can be found at: https://unconditionalcompassion.org/medical-shortage-in-sri-lanka

Latest Project Update:

Due to the shortage in medicine and drugs, as in when funds are available to purchase any of the available urgent medicine and equipment, they are procured. As of now (11th May 2022), we have spent Rs. 1,481,895 out of the Rs. 1,968,330 received to service needs at the hospitals mentioned above. This included a special appeal for a nitric oxide cylinder to save the lives of premature babies at Castle Street Hospital.

The Jaffna and Karapitiya Hospitals were handed over their items on Monday

The Batticaloa Hospital hand over has been delayed due to the curfew situation prevailing in the country.

The Foundation of Goodness requires a further Rs. 17, 231,418 to fully supply all needed medicine and equipment. Donate to save a life.

We are extremely grateful for the kindhearted donors that have come forward in this time of need!
