Countless success stories from beneficiaries of the Foundation of Goodness’s empowerment programmes show the long-term positive impact these programmes have on rural children and youth in supporting them towards achieving their dreams and goals. Beneficiaries who become part of the FoG family are exposed to more than just educational opportunities, with many awareness workshops and the children’s good values initiative all of which, combined, aim to inculcate good values, broaden the perspective and encourage a drive to succeed in our beneficiaries.
A great example for this is Vishmi Kawshalya, who joined the Foundation of Goodness’ Children’s Good Values Initiative in Kahawa at the age of 13. She was inspired and motivated to serve the local community through the lessons learnt during this program. By the age of 24, she was heavily involved with numerous youth community service organisations and committees at the district and national level, often as an office bearer.
This year, her services to the community resulted in her being recognized and awarded the All Island Best Up and Coming Youth Leader at the 2021/22 Sri Lanka Vanithabhimani Awards organised by Sirasa TV!
She was also felicitated at the OYOB Centre of Excellence in Seenigama for her achievement and spoke to our beneficiaries on how the good values and lessons she had learnt led to her success. We wish outstanding individuals such as Vishmi all the very best for the future with the hopes that she can make a significant and positive difference for Sri Lanka!
