Mobile App Development: Woodfin & Fidenz partner with FoG Drew Seitam from Woodfin, Australia first contacted the Foundation of Goodness as a donor, and was enthusiastic about visiting the MCC Centre of Excellence in Seenigama to see our work. Working in the field of IT and software he was extremely enthusiastic to get involved with FoG’s IT programme, and supported FoG’s quest to find career opportunities for students who graduate from our courses. When Drew visited Seenigama with Woodfin’s Sri Lankan Partner Chim Himidumage(Also from Fidenz (Pvt) Ltd.), they were inspired to create job opportunities for the IT students. As mobile and web developers, they wanted to handpick candidates for a special app-development workshop with a chance to take on outsourced work from theirs and other companies in the future. With this in mind, Chim, along with Praveen De Silva and a team from Woodfin and Fidenz, visited the FoG IT Centre to identify and handpick the best possible candidates to attend their workshop. Rathindu Wathsala, Suranga Sampath, Dilan Harshana, Nayana Kumari, Ishari, Harsha Maduranga and Dilini were selected by the team and their training began at the IT Centre. Every week, they are assigned a tutorial and an assignment based on it and Praveen and the team conduct Skype meetings once a week for troubleshooting and clarifications with the FoG team. Once the training is complete the students will be qualified for subcontracting via mobile development companies such as Woodfin & Fidenz. The Foundation of Goodness is delighted and honoured by our association with donors, sponsors and partners like Woodfin & Fidenz, who go that extra mile to provide a service for the community and uplift the lives of talented rural youth.
“For too long, information, opportunities, and resources have been constraints, they need to be the bridges.”
