Help a Child, Donate a Book The ‘Help a Child, Donate a Book’ organization is based in Singapore and dedicated towards bringing reading books to the underprivileged children in poorer countries to give them a chance to enjoy reading, which will eventually lead to further education and job opportunities. Their aim is to collect second hand or even new books and other educational material to donate and help institutions all across Asia set up libraries to serve these kids. The idea behind the project is that with the opportunity to learn English, kids will be better placed to find jobs or gain access to better job prospects. The Help a Child, Donate a Book organization first contacted us through Mr. Albert Teo in January, 2014, and donated 30 boxes of English books which we were able to distribute to libraries and orphanages across the North and South of Sri Lanka. Both the FoG and Mr. Teo & his team were delighted by how many young lives we were able to touch through this donation and therefore, a second donation of 30 boxes were delivered to us earlier this year. Since January 2014, we are delighted to announce that our range of activity has widened even more, with a new Heartbeat Centre in Moneragala (situated in the Southeast of Sri Lanka) and more and more activities in central and eastern Sri Lanka. Therefore, we were able to distribute these books to libraries, orphanages and schools all across the island. The books distribution are as follows:
Thank you ‘Help a Child, Donate a Book’ for this incredible opportunity to bring knowledge and happiness to the lives of young rural children all across Sri Lanka, many of whom would not have this opportunity if not for you! 09th September 2015
