HopeSong Every year, we at the Foundation of Goodness are blown away by the various fundraising efforts that help us deliver numerous programmes across a wide range of beneficiaries to uplift lives wherever a helping hand is needed. This year, we were delighted to host Volunteer Sanjay Pathmanathan from Canada who joined our team as part of the volunteer placement programme organised by The Asia Foundation. Sanjay would leave his mark by making a tremendous effort to benefit the lives of hopeful young children from rural Sri Lankan villages by organizing the HopeSong Concert to raise funds for FoG’s Essential School Supplies Programme (ESSP). In making this event such a success, Sanjay had an excellent team to support him along the way, including Shehan Dias, Nisheda Samaranayake, Hasara Kulatanga, Ashni Perera, Isuru Suharshana, Ryan Keil, and Larry T Hill who worked tirelessly towards the cause. The concert took place on the 21st of November at the Barefoot Café, organised in partnership with the Rotaract Clubs of Colombo, Colombo Regent and Colombo Millennium City and with the kind support of sponsors Asia Leisure, TNL, Cozy Sac, Drive Green and Windforce. Performing that night were feature artists Cosmogyral, Asela Perera, Oshan Fernando, Larry T Hill, Svetlana Abeysekera, Suren De Kauwe, Joshua Vittachi, Dineli Sun and of course Sanjay himself, with the night’s action beautifully photographed by Rahal Wimalasiri.
At the end of a very successful evening, HopeSong had raised funds for 130 ESSP packs to bring absolute joy to an equal number of young kids when they receive their new school items! Please watch out for an upcoming feature about our ESSP programme which will deliver over 3,000 bags this year. It’s still not too late to donate via our website www.unconditionalcompassion.org ! We at FoG would like to express our most heartfelt thanks to Sanjay for this monumental contribution, as well as his wonderful team, all the performers, sponsors, the Rotarians and the audience who came out to support us and make this event a true success! 30th December 2015
