The Foundation of Goodness wishes to congratulate our most recent group of students to graduate from a variety of classes and courses. These classes offer opportunities for children, youth and women to pursue a variety of educational and vocational interests, free of charge to add value to develop their skills and add value to their future endeavors, empowering the graduates to take control of their future and create a better life for themselves and their families.

The graduation ceremonies for 414 students was held on the 13th of January, 2018 as follows:

The Women’s Enterprise and Empowerment Centre (184 students from 61 villages)

IT Centre (96 students from 38 villages)

Business Skills Centre (63 students from 35 villages)

Language Training Courses (56 students from 12 villages)

Diving Centre (15 students from 12 villages)

The Women’s Enterprise and Empowerment Graduation took place in the morning with the attendance of Chief Guest Ms. Jayantho Kuru-Utumpala who was the first Sri Lankan to summit Mt. Everest and guests of honour Ms. Lilamani De Zoysa and Hashi Peiris.

The Business Skills and IT Graduation ceremony took place that afternoon, attended by Chief Guest Dr. Praneeth Abeysundara, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Sri Jayawardenapura.

Since their inception, these courses have now graduated 6,725 students, empowering them to excel at their school level education, pursue higher education or to even start their own businesses like Damayanthi, a single parent of two who was forced to find employment overseas away from her children, in an effort to earn an income to ensure the well being of her kids. After years of great difficulty and toil, she returned to Sri Lanka but needed skills and education to find employment. Having heard about the Foundation of Goodness she began attending our Dress Making Class. By the time she completed the programme, Damayanthi had already started a business in dress making and decided to broaden her range by attending our class for sewing and decorating Saari Jackets. She was soon recognized by the local community for her skill in sewing bridal wear and decided to follow the Beauty Culture Class at FoG with the hopes of pursuing a future in Bridal Dressing.

Now, we are proud to announce that she has finally opened her own beauty salon and secured a safe and comfortable future for her small family with the skills she gained at FoG, and we wish her great success!

Now, as this new group of students enter the world having gained new experiences and expertise, we wish them all the very best in making all their dreams and ambitions come true!
