Subway World Sandwich Day

Building on the success of past National Sandwich Day initiatives, Subway declared November 3rd 2017, World Sandwich Day, offering special promotions with proceeds donated to hunger-relief charities in over 70 countries around the globe.

Subway Sri Lanka had a special buy-one-get-one-free offer on their six inch subs and were keen to use the proceeds to feed the hungry. Having worked with subway on previous occasions, the Foundation of Goodness facilitated the project helping to feed 200 beneficiaries from the western and southeastern regions of the island as follows;

Methsewa Foundation for children and adults with special needs (Moneragala)– 100 beneficiaries

Kumara Kasyapa Boys’ Home (Rajagiriya) - 39 beneficiaries

Loris Girls’ Home (Maradana) – 28 beneficiaries

Gunasekera Girls’ Orphanage Child Development Centre (Rajagiriya) – 33 beneficiaries

Together with Subway, we were delighted to have this opportunity to appease the hunger of 200 people around Sri Lanka who depend on the kindness and generosity of others while they are at their most vulnerable. We look forward to positively impacting many more lives in the future through similar projects.

Founded by then 17-year-old Fred DeLuca and family friend Dr. Peter Buck more than 52 years ago, Subway® is still a family-owned business today working with more than 21,000 dedicated franchisees in communities around the world. Subway is committed to providing a wide range of great tasting food choices, while reducing their environmental footprint and creating a positive influence in the communities they serve.
