Books for Rural Kids

Help a Child, Donate a Book is an organization that describes itself by saying “Our objective is simple but our hopes high” with a mission to bring reading and books to the underprivileged children and give them a chance to enjoy reading, which will eventually lead to further education and a job.​

They collect new and second hand books as well as other educational material to donate and help institutions set up libraries.

​Mr. Albert Teo from Help a Child, Donate a Book has been reaching out to us since 2014 and has collaborated with the Foundation of goodness over multiple occasions to send large shipments of books to Sri Lanka which the Foundation of Goodness was delighted to distribute all across the island, to small schools in rural villages that this really made a big impact on.

As the Foundation of Goodness has expanded its own reach in recent years, these books have been a vital resource enriching the libraries at the FoG Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres. This year’s donation have reached all corners of the island, being distributed at three VHE Centres in the North (Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu), three in the East (Batticaloa, Ampara and Moneragala) and three in the South (Udumulla, Rathgama and Matara) with a special selection earmarked for the brand new library to be opened in the coming weeks at the Bandarawela VHE Centre located in Central Sri Lanka.
