Athlete Amasha De Silva

Amasha De Silva  is a student of Swanramali Girls’ College, Kandy and a  National Colours holder in Athletics for the past seven years.

Most recently Amasha competed in the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship (2018) winning two individual gold medals in the 100m and 200m events and further gold medals in the 4x100 and 4x400 team relays.

Follow her success Amasha participated in the Asian Junior Athletic Championship held in Gifu, Japan where she won two silver medals in the 100m and 200m events and a bronze medal in the 4x400 event.

This win forwarded her to the World Junior Athletic Championship in Finland where she made it as far as the 100m semifinal, falling just short of the mark to qualify for the final.

Undeterred, Amasha is determined to participate in the 2020 Olympics and become a medalist.

However, her path to success has been one of hardship, with her parents struggling to provide for the most basic needs of their three children.

During her Olympic journey Amasha needs to follow strict training programmes which include nutrition plans and incorporate the latest scientific and technological advancements in the field such as the equipment used, track composition and footwear.

Amasha wrote to the Foundation of Goodness in search of a sponsor who could her make her dreams a reality and we were deeply honoured at the opportunity to be a part of her journey to success.

None other than our very own trustee Mr. Ashan Malalasekera stepped up as a sponsor to help Amasha reach greater heights in athletics in order to bring great honour to our country and we were delighted to hand over a special sponsorship to keep her on track to achieving her goals.

We wish Amasha nothing but the best and  great success in all her endeavours.
