ICE Workshop 2018

A 3-day ICE (Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship) Workshop took place from the 4th – 6th November 2018 as a residential workshop with meals and accommodation provided free of cost.

The programme was designed and conducted by Professor Suranga Nanayakkara from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Prof. Nanayakkara is the recipient of the “Young Innovators under 35’ for Asia Pacific Region warded by MIT Technology Review, Outstanding Young Person of Sri Lanka (OYP) and INK Fellow.

ICE 2018 is the third edition of a series of workshops that offer a fresh perspective for participant on concepts and skills of creative thinking, entrepreneurship and leadership from a multi-disciplinary approach. The workshop integrates essential skills and mind-sets of innovation with design methods including problem formulation, teamwork, creative ideation and prototyping.

This is the second time FoG has been invited to participate in this programme, with 20 youth attending their 2017 workshop.

This year’s workshop was conducted under the theme of ‘Step towards creating an innovation ecosystem in Sri Lanka’ and 13 participants (5 form Seenigama, 6 from Moneragala and 2 from the  North) participated in this invaluable programme.

A big thank you goes out to ICE for including the Foundation of goodness in this truly valuable workshop, which gave our rural kids a chance to experience something they would never have the opportunity to partake in. These session will be an invaluable resource to them in developing their own creative akkills and innovative ideas to make greater progress.
