MCC Scholarships 2022/2023

We extend our heartiest congratulations to the recipients of the Marylebone Cricket Club sports scholarships for 2022/2023! In total, 15 aspiring young cricket players have secured the MCC funded sports scholarships facilitated by the Foundation of Goodness this year. Since 2008, the Marylebone Cricket Club has continued to support aspiring sporting stars from rural Sri Lanka to reach their best potential by way of their annual cricket scholarships. 

The scholarship recipients are as below:

Numerous students from disadvantaged families face financial barriers that prevent them from pursuing their cricketing and sporting talents. These MCC scholarships serve as a crucial resource in granting them a chance to pursue their aspirations. Some of the cricket stars from rural areas, who have received the MCC scholarship have achieved remarkable success, including playing in the Premier League Cricket or representing Sri Lanka as members of the National Cricket Team. The most recent achievement by our Sports Academy beneficiaries Vihara Sewwandi, Sumudu Nisansala & Rashmi Nethranjali (MCC scholarship recipients) who were selected to represent Sri Lanka at the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup in South Africa this year, bears testament to this wholesome effort.

The Foundation of Goodness prides itself on producing world-class cricketers (both men and women) who have gone on to represent Sri Lankan as part of the National Team and we hope that these talented young hopefuls will also realize their dreams by carving out a successful cricket career.
