It brings us immense pride to see players from our Sports Academy represent our nation and achieve such remarkable success. This week, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on four exceptional female cricketers who have made their mark on Sri Lanka’s national cricket stage: Kaveesha Dilhari, Sachini Nisansala, Sachini Gimhani, and Kawya Kavindi.

Kaveesha Dilhari and Sachini Nisansala have been key players in the main team, delivering outstanding performances that have captivated cricket enthusiasts across the nation. Their skill and dedication have been instrumental in the team’s recent successes, showcasing their exceptional talent and hard work.

Sachini Gimhani and Kawya Kavindi, though part of the reserve team, have also made significant contributions. Their presence on the reserve list underscores the depth of talent within Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket, highlighting a promising future for the sport.

Their achievements are a testament to the rigorous training and unwavering support provided by our sports academy. Since 2007, we have been committed to offering female cricketers equal opportunities and recognition through our FOG Seenigama Ladies Cricket programme. Our top-notch coaching, training, and equipment are provided free of charge, ensuring that every player has the chance to excel.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team for their historic achievements at the T20 Women’s Asia Cup 2024. The success of our players at both the club and national levels is a proud reflection of our academy’s dedication to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in women’s cricket.

We sincerely thank Harry Solomons of Kingsgrove Sports – Australia for providing the essential cricket equipment that has been instrumental in shaping the careers of these talented athletes. We also deeply appreciate the financial support from the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which provided monthly scholarships during their time at Devapathiraja Girls School, Rathgama. These contributions have been invaluable in helping these young sportswomen reach new heights in their cricketing journey.

As we celebrate their accomplishments, we look forward to seeing even more remarkable performances from these talented athletes in the future.
