In the aftermath of devastating floods across several regions of Sri Lanka, the Foundation of Goodness (FoG) stepped forward to provide urgent relief to affected families. Through four key distributions in Batticaloa, Kilinochchi, Navatkuli, and Mathagal, we delivered dry ration packs to 337 families in need, bringing hope and sustenance during this challenging time.
Reaching Batticaloa: Supporting Flood-Affected Families
On 14th December 2024, FoG distributed dry ration packs to 100 families in Sittandy, Batticaloa District. These families had been severely impacted by the flooding, which disrupted livelihoods and left them in urgent need of assistance.
Navigating Challenges in Kilinochchi
The Kilinochchi District distribution, held at the Pachchilapalli Divisional Secretariat, highlighted the logistical difficulties faced in reaching remote areas. Of the 65 dry ration packs prepared, 30 were distributed directly at the event, while the remaining 35 were allocated to families from interior villages like Kovivayal, Soranpattu, and Puloppalai West.
Supporting Navatkuli Families
On 5th December 2024, FoG distributed 53 dry ration packs to families in Navatkuli North and East. For many of these families, the flooding had left them without access to essential supplies. The relief packs provided much-needed support as they began to rebuild their lives.
Relief at Mathagal Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre
The Mathagal Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre also served as a vital hub for relief efforts. On 5th December 2024, 119 families received dry ration packs. This distribution not only helped address the immediate needs of the affected families but also demonstrated FoG’s commitment to supporting rural communities during times of crisis.
Strength in Unity
Through these efforts, the Foundation of Goodness reinforced its mission to bridge the urban-rural divide, offering critical relief to those most affected by natural disasters. By reaching 337 families across the island, FoG has provided hope and resilience to communities as they recover from this calamity.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this possible, from local organisers to donors and volunteers. Together, we continue to stand by Sri Lankan communities in their time of need.
