At the Foundation of Goodness, we believe that every child, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity to pursue their passion for cricket. Thanks to the continued support of Will Gaffney and his initiative, Bat for a Chance, we are making a significant difference in the lives of aspiring young cricketers in rural Sri Lanka.
The recent generous donation of GBP 500 enables us to further strengthen our Bat Repair Unit. This unit is dedicated to ensuring that children in rural areas, who may not otherwise have access to quality cricket equipment, have the opportunity to play the sport they love. By repairing donated bats, we bridge the gap between financial limitations and the ability to dream big on the cricket pitch.
The Bat Repair Unit has repaired over 230 bats to date, including bats that were broken into two. Our skilled team takes care of everything, from replacing rubber handles to fixing broken clips, ensuring each bat is restored to excellent condition. Remarkably, not a single complaint has been received about the quality of the repairs, a testament to the care and expertise invested in this initiative.
The Bat Repair Unit operates with a simple yet impactful mission: to collect damaged bats from generous donors, as well as broken bats from children, expertly repair them, and either distribute them to children in need or return them to their original owners. This effort not only provides the tools to play cricket but also instils hope, fosters talent, and inspires young athletes to pursue their dreams.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Will Gaffney and Bat for a Chance for their unwavering belief in equal opportunities and their invaluable support. With every repaired bat, we are not just equipping children for cricket; we are empowering them to dream, achieve, and succeed. Thank you for being part of this transformative journey.
