The Foundation of Goodness is a holistic rural development model that seeks to bridge the urban-rural divide in Sri Lanka via 10 empowerment divisions across 900+ villages island-wide, and reached over 307,000+ beneficiaries in 2022 alone by way of 15 Empowerment Centres, free of cost.
Volunteer Accommodation
All US Dollar rates will be calculated as per the exchange rate at the time of payment.
Volunteers are required to cover all their own expenses, including flights, health/accidental insurance, transport, accommodation and food. FoG has several accommodation options to suit different budgets.
Please note that in lieu of a volunteer placement fee it is mandatory for all volunteers to stay at the Foundation of Goodness accommodation centres as part of the volunteer experience offered by us and as we cannot take responsibility for your safety at external premises.
NOTE: In case of cancellation, you will be liable for a fee of 15% of the total amount.

SEENIGAMA VILLAGE – LAHIRU VILLA
Individual rooms on bed and breakfast (B/B) basis per person, per day
The villa is located at the OYOB Centre of Excellence and has five comfortable ensuite a/c rooms with a swimming pool and a communal lounge with satellite TV and a DVD player. There is also a washing machine available.
The villa accommodation is centrally located to provide all visitors and volunteers with a firsthand experience of the rural community. Designed to reflect the essence of the village, it offers a unique stay unlike typical hotel accommodations. Our dedicated staff ensures round-the-clock security and attends to the needs of our guests. This establishment aims to immerse guests in the authentic rural experience while providing comfort and safety

SEENIGAMA VILLAGE – SPORTS ACADEMY

For larger groups and individuals looking for a lower cost alternative, FoG can offer hostel style accommodation based in the Sports Centre. The accommodation has a fully equipped kitchen, including a washing machine, for guests to use and there is a communal area with WiFi & Satellite TV and we also provide sheets and towels.
Please note that support staff will be available at the Sports accommodation from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. Outside of these hours, only security personnel will remain at the accommodation. It’s important to mention that this accommodation is approximately 1 kilometer away from the main center where most volunteers will be working

Meals could be arranged at the centre on request but the volunteers would either have to bring in the provisions themselves or get the accommodation centre staff to get them on their behalf for which monies will have to be given to the staff by the volunteers

The first Village Heartbeat opened in 2007 in Udumulla (approx. 2 km further towards Hikkaduwa from Seenigama).

Located in the hills of Sri Lanka, this Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre was the 9th Centre opened to empower rural Sri Lankans. The climate in the area is generally colder than other areas of Sri Lanka.

The 6th Village Heartbeat was opened in 2017 and has a library, a computer training centre, English & Sinhala classes, volunteer expertise oriented programmes which form the core of the village.
Mathagal is a quiet rural village situated by the beach and can be a little cut off from the urban bustle. The nearest large city is the Jaffna Town situated 24 kilometres away.
