Workshops That Empower and Inspire: A Heartfelt Thanks to Our Volunteers

Expanding Access to Clean Water: Transforming Lives in Angankanda and Kengalla
October 3, 2024

At the Foundation of Goodness, we strive to offer opportunities that not only educate but also inspire and uplift our beneficiaries. This month, several volunteers generously shared their time and expertise to conduct workshops in photography, reproductive health, beauty, and nutrition, leaving a lasting impact on those who attended.

Photography Workshop with Amanda Weerasinghe

We were honoured to have a professional photographer conduct a photography workshop at the OYOB Centre of Excellence in Seenigama. Amanda’s session was truly inspiring, offering students hands-on experience and invaluable insights into photography techniques. The students were thrilled to learn from such an accomplished professional, and Amanda’s kind offer to hire some of our students for future events has left them more motivated than ever. As an added bonus, Amanda has graciously arranged for the students to visit Yala National Park in December for a wildlife photography excursion. This experience will provide them with a unique opportunity to develop their skills further, capturing the beauty of nature in a real-world setting. We are deeply grateful for Amanda’s ongoing commitment to empowering our students.

Reproductive Health Workshops

In collaboration with the Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka and UNFPA, Sachinda Dulanjana successfully led two days of focus group discussions aimed at gathering insights from youth and parents on reproductive health. These sessions offered crucial input for the development of a virtual platform that will enhance reproductive health education. We are grateful for the active participation of everyone involved, as these insights will help shape a project that is set to benefit young people across Sri Lanka.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Roshni Perumal and her family, including Keshia and Rashmika Gunasekara, for their vital support in making this event a resounding success.

Nutrition Workshops with Dr. Tusitha

Nutrition plays a key role in maintaining good health, especially for vulnerable groups. Dr. Tusitha conducted four informative nutrition workshops—two at the Sports Academy and two at the elders’ homes in Balapitiya and Madampe. The sessions provided practical advice and guidance on maintaining a healthy diet, tailored to both athletes and elderly residents.
