Despite having many rivers, fairly clean and constant groundwater and several other water bodies siutated aross Sri Lanka, access to clean drinking water remains low for rural communties, esepcially those situated in the Dry Zone. Research has identifies that the use of agrochemicals, pollution, climate change and the improper disposal of sewage water has further increased the risk of diseases such as Chronic Kidney Disease in rural communties.
In aid of this, the Foundation of Goodness facilitates the provision of Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Plants to rural villages across the island, especially those with a high number of kidney diesease patients, propogated by the lack of clean drinking water.
The Foundation of Goodness was delighted to open and hand over the following 3 reverse osmosis water purification plants to rural communities in need of clean drinking water:
🫗 1610 beneficiaries in Athimale (Monaragala) by Finnia
🫗 1960 beneficiaries from Thanthirimale (Anuradhapura) by Reece Foundation
🫗 1800 beneficiaries from Walapanegama – Pelwatta – Buttala (Monaragala) by Murtaza & Avanti Esufally
We hope these plants now ensure healthier rural communities!
