In the heart of Sri Lanka’s most rural areas, where access to education remains a challenge for many families, parents find themselves grappling with the financial burden of providing essential school supplies for their young ones. In response to this pressing need, the Foundation of Goodness launched its annual initiative: the Essential School Supplies Pack for the year 2024. This year, the Foundation received an overwhelming 12,000 requests from school children residing in some of the most remote areas of Sri Lanka. These requests underscore the stark reality faced by families striving to make ends meet while prioritising their children’s education.
However, despite the generous support of donors, the Foundation has thus far been able to fulfill only half of the received requests, reaching 6,000 children in need. The distribution drive, a pivotal moment in the Foundation’s calendar, has officially commenced, with supplies making their way to numerous schools across the region. The impact of these efforts extends far beyond the provision of tangible items; it represents the assurance of continuity in education, a lifeline for these young minds eager to learn and grow.
For over two decades, the Foundation of Goodness has been at the forefront of bridging the gap in educational resources for rural children. With a staggering record of distributing over 78,420 essential school supply packs, the Foundation has been instrumental in nurturing the educational journey of countless youngsters, paving the way for a brighter and more promising future. Yet, amidst these achievements lies an unmet need, a call for continued support and solidarity.
