On International Youth Day, we highlight the myriad of empowerment courses offered free of charge across the island for rural youth to learn new skills and better their lives. Our 15 Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres offer the following courses free of charge across the island to rural communities:
In addition to educational courses, the Foundation of Goodness also inculcates good values through the children’s good values initiative, Happiness Activities, conducts many awareness programmes on topics such as mental health and provides job opportunities after our students successfully graduate from their courses.
In lieu of International Youth Day 2022, the OYOB Centre of Excellence held a conflict resolution and peace building program for 30 rural youth. They participated in many team building and leadership development activities.
The Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres also conducted activities on Youth Day, encouraging the sharing of ideas and discussing opinions among our beneficiaries.
We are also delighted to announce that 3 students from the Dambulla VHE Centre were selected by the world renown Taru Villas Hotel Chain to pursue internships in several aspects of the hotel industry, including Food & Beverage, Stewarding, Housekeeping, Laundry, Kitchen, Gardening, Technical Maintenance, and Administration.
“Our focus to harness these skills is absolutely critical. This is the philosophy of FOG as otherwise, the progress of our nation cannot be accelerated.” – Kushil Gunasekera, Founder Foundation of Goodness
